Ingredients:

- 4 chicken drumsticks

- 4 chicken thighs

- 1 cup buttermilk

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 tsp salt

- 1 tsp black pepper

- 1 tsp garlic powder

- 1 tsp paprika

- 1 tsp dried thyme

- 1 tsp dried oregano

- Olive oil for frying

Direction:

1. In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix well.

2. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and make sure they are fully coated in the buttermilk mixture. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

3. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, dried thyme, and dried oregano.

4. Remove the chicken pieces from the buttermilk mixture and dredge them in the flour mixture, making sure they are fully coated.

5. In a large skillet, heat 1 inch of olive oil over medium-high heat.

6. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken pieces to the skillet. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.

7. Fry the chicken for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

8. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).

9. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

10. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious American Buttermilk Fried Chicken!
