Basic cookies

Bake a batch of these easy cookies with just five ingredients – or fewer. A perfect partner to a cup of tea, you can whip them up in no time

Ingredients:

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/2 cup white sugar

- 1/4 cup unsalted butter

- 1 egg

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- Olive oil for greasing

Direction:

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Grease a baking sheet with some olive oil and set it aside.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until all the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.

3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and add in the unsalted butter. Mix until well combined.

4. Slowly add the dry ingredients mixture to the egg and butter mixture. Mix well until a soft dough forms.

5. Add in the vanilla extract and mix again.

6. Take a small amount of dough and roll it into a ball. Place it on the greased baking sheet and flatten it slightly with your palm. Repeat this step with the remaining dough, leaving a few inches of space between each cookie.

7. If desired, you can sprinkle some additional sugar on top of the cookies for extra sweetness.

8. Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes until they turn golden brown around the edges.

9. Once done, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.

10. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Your basic cookies are now ready to be enjoyed! You can store them in an airtight container for up to a week. Enjoy with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee for a delicious and simple treat.
