Café de Paris butter – sauce for steak

Café de Paris butter is a flavoured butter for steak that’s infused with an tantalising mix of herbs, spices and savoury condiments. Top sizzling-hot steaks with slices of this classic French compound butter and watch as it melts into an incredible butter sauce that oozes over the meat!


- 4 steaks (ribeye or filet mignon)

- 4 tablespoons Café de Paris butter

- 2 tablespoons olive oil

- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Dried herbs (such as thyme, oregano, and rosemary)


1. Take the steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.


2. Preheat a large skillet or grill over high heat.


3. Season the steaks generously with salt, pepper, and desired dried herbs on both sides.


4. Drizzle olive oil over the steaks and rub it in with your hands to evenly coat the steaks.


5. Once the skillet or grill is hot, place the steaks on it and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer your steak to be well done.


6. As the steaks are cooking, prepare the Café de Paris butter by melting it in a small saucepan over low heat. Keep an eye on it and stir occasionally to prevent burning.


7. Once the steaks are cooked to your desired doneness, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes.


8. Serve the steaks on a plate and top each one with a generous tablespoon of melted Café de Paris butter.
