Chop Suey (Chicken Stir Fry)

Chop Suey – a saucy chicken stir fry loaded with tender pieces of chicken, vegetables and smothered in Chinese brown sauce just like you get at the best Chinese restaurants! Use any vegetables you want in this quick and easy stir fry.

Ingredients:

- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into small pieces

- 1 tablespoon olive oil

- 1 onion, sliced

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 bell pepper, sliced

- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

- 1 cup bean sprouts

- 1/4 cup soy sauce

- 1 teaspoon sugar

- 1 teaspoon sesame oil

- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Dried spices (optional): ginger, red pepper flakes

Direction:

1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

 

2. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.

 

3. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 2 minutes.

 

4. Add bell pepper, mushrooms, and bean sprouts to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until vegetables are tender.

 

5. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and any desired dried spices (such as ginger or red pepper flakes).

 

6. Pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the skillet. Stir to coat everything evenly.

 

7. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until everything is heated through and sauce has thickened slightly.

 

8. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.

 

9. Serve the chop suey (chicken stir fry) over rice or noodles for a complete meal. Enjoy!
