Perfect for afternoon tea or dessert, these easy cinnamon doughnuts are stuffed with Nutella and cooked in a Kmart pie maker.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- Nutella spread
- Olive oil for frying
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Direction:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the olive oil, milk, and egg until well combined.
3. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, stirring until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk. If it is too wet, add a little more flour.
4. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
5. Using a round cookie cutter or a drinking glass, cut out circles from the dough.
6. Place a small dollop of Nutella in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the Nutella and pinch the edges together to seal.
7. Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a deep pot over medium-high heat. The oil should be about 1-2 inches deep.
8. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the doughnuts into the oil using tongs. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
9. Remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
10. If desired, dust the doughnuts with powdered sugar while they are still warm.
Enjoy your freshly made cinnamon doughnuts with a delicious Nutella filling! These can be served as a sweet breakfast treat or a decadent dessert.
