Crispy Salt & Pepper Tofu

No deep-frying required! These crispy pan-fried tofu cubes are tossed in a crunchy medley of fried garlic, chilli and green onion and irresistible five spice.


- 1 block of firm tofu

- 2 tablespoons olive oil

- Salt

- Black pepper

- Garlic powder

- Onion powder

- Paprika

- 1 tablespoon cornstarch

- 1 tablespoon soy sauce

- 1 tablespoon honey

- Green onions (optional, for garnish)


1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.


2. Drain the block of firm tofu and gently press out any excess water with paper towels.


3. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.


4. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch, soy sauce, and honey until well combined.


5. In another bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to make your seasoning mixture.


6. Dip each tofu cube into the cornstarch mixture, making sure it is evenly coated.


7. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.


8. Once the oil is hot, add the tofu cubes to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and crispy.


9. Remove the tofu cubes from the skillet and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.


10. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the tofu cubes, making sure they are evenly coated.


11. Bake the tofu in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until they are crispy and golden brown.


12. Once done, remove the tofu from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.


13. Garnish with chopped green onions, if desired.


14. Serve and enjoy your crispy salt and pepper tofu as a delicious and protein-packed snack or as a topping for salads or rice bowls. Enjoy!
