Hot Chicken

Hot chicken is a signature dish of Nashville, Tennessee, traditionally consisting of chicken parts that are fried in cayenne pepper paste until they develop a rusty red color. It is usually served on slices of white bread with sliced pickles or coleslaw on the side.

Ingredients:

- 2 lbs chicken wings

- 1/4 cup olive oil

- Salt

- Pepper

- Garlic powder

- Paprika

- Hot sauce

- Ranch or blue cheese dressing (optional)

Direction:

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. In a large mixing bowl, add 2 lbs of chicken wings and drizzle with 1/4 cup of olive oil. Mix well to coat all the wings with oil.

3. In a small bowl, mix together 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the chicken wings and mix well to evenly coat them.

4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the seasoned chicken wings on it in a single layer.

5. Bake the chicken wings in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are crispy and golden brown.

6. In a small saucepan, mix together 1/4 cup of hot sauce and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Heat over medium heat until the sauce is warm and well combined.

7. Once the chicken wings are done, remove them from the oven and place them in a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot sauce mixture over the wings and toss to evenly coat them.

8. Serve the hot chicken wings with ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping. Enjoy your delicious and spicy homemade hot chicken wings!
