Pie maker apple and custard doughnuts

Cooked in a Kmart pie maker, these fluffy cinnamon doughnuts are stuffed with warm apple slices and homemade custard. Quick and easy, they make a perfect after-school snack or dessert.

Ingredients:

- 1 package of pie crust dough

- 1 can of apple pie filling

- 1 cup of custard

- 2 tablespoons of olive oil

- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg

- 1/4 teaspoon of salt

- Powdered sugar (optional)

Direction:

1. Preheat your pie maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

2. Roll out the pie crust dough on a lightly floured surface. Using a round cookie cutter, cut out circles from the dough (about 3 inches in diameter).

3. Place a spoonful of apple pie filling in the center of half of the dough circles, leaving a small border around the edges.

4. In a small bowl, mix together the custard, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Spoon a dollop of the custard mixture on top of the apple pie filling.

5. Place another dough circle on top of the filling, and use a fork to crimp the edges together, sealing the doughnuts shut.

6. Brush the tops of the doughnuts with olive oil.

7. Carefully place the doughnuts in the preheated pie maker and close the lid. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the doughnuts are golden brown and cooked through.

8. Remove the doughnuts from the pie maker and let them cool for a few minutes before dusting them with powdered sugar (if desired).

9. Enjoy your delicious apple and custard doughnuts! These can be served warm or at room temperature.
