Pie Maker Vanilla Slice

Vanilla slice, one of the most classic desserts around, has had a makeover. All you need is a pie maker, and you can whip up a batch of these delicious individual sized pie maker vanilla slice.

Ingredients:

- 1 sheet of puff pastry

- 1 cup of milk

- 1/4 cup of sugar

- 2 egg yolks

- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch

- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- Olive oil (for greasing)

- Seasoning and dried spices (optional)

Direction:

1. Preheat your pie maker according to its instructions.

2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat and set aside.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from curdling.

5. Once all the milk has been incorporated, pour the mixture back into the saucepan and place it over medium heat.

6. Cook the custard mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

7. Remove the custard from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

8. While the custard is cooling, lightly grease the pie maker with olive oil.

9. Cut the puff pastry sheet into squares that will fit into the pie maker. Place one square into each pie section.

10. Pour the cooled custard into each pie section, filling them about 2/3 of the way full.

11. If desired, sprinkle some seasoning or dried spices on top of the custard for added flavor.

12. Top each pie with another square of puff pastry and gently press the edges together to seal.

13. Close the pie maker and cook for about 6-8 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.

14. Once the pies are cooked, remove them from the pie maker and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

15. Optional: Dust the tops of the pies with powdered sugar for a sweet finish.

Enjoy your homemade pie maker vanilla slices! Serve warm or chilled, and store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days.
