Tso's Chicken

General Tso’s chicken is a Chinese-American sweet and spicy dish consisting of chicken dices that are first deep-fried, then stir-fried together with ginger, garlic, scallions, and hot chili peppers in a sauce made from sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and rice wine.

Ingredients:

- 2 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

- 1/4 cup cornstarch

- 1/4 cup soy sauce

- 2 tablespoons honey

- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

- 1 tablespoon olive oil

- 1 tablespoon minced garlic

- 1 teaspoon minced ginger

- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Green onions, thinly sliced for garnish

Direction:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch with a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss the chicken pieces in the cornstarch until they are evenly coated.

2. In a separate small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar until well combined.

3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and crispy.

4. Once the chicken is cooked through, add the minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

5. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the chicken and stir to coat the chicken evenly. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.

6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a splash of water to thin it out.

7. Serve the Tso's chicken over rice and garnish with thinly sliced green onions. Enjoy your homemade Tso's chicken!
